Active Learning in the Classroom!PrintEmail

Academically rigorous can also be highly engaging

Would you like all your teachers to develop a repertoire of ideas, structures and strategies to deliver active learning regularly? Would you like to see this then increase engagement, motivation and enthusiasm for learning that will then impact on improved achievement and attainment? Quite simply, if students (or anyone for that matter) is activey involved in their learning rather than passive, they will learn better.

This INSET will not only demonstrate how to achieve this but will also be delivered in an exciting, active and inspiring way that will leave your colleagues equipped with everything they need to deliver active learning.

As a highly experienced trainer who has delivered this INSET to several thousand teachers I have found the best way to a successful INSET session is to;

• Be utterly practical
• De-mystify and deconstruct the jargon for busy and hardworking colleagues
• Avoid ‘silly’ role plays or pointless group work
• Do not do ‘Death by Power point’

Core principles of the day:

Many of the ideas demonstrated will be not only ‘low tech and low prep’ but, importantly, be incredibly powerful tools to improve engagement and motivation. However I will also offer some innovative suggestions in how to utilize ICT within the classroom, that moves way beyond ‘Powerpointless’.
