How to Survive and Benefit from an Independent School Inspection

A course that will help schools prepare for and successfully deal with the demands of an Independent School Inspection. Teaching the Three Major Indoor Sports

The course is aimed at those who wish to enhance their understanding of how to teach the basics of Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball and build on their existing knowledge of sports.

In Badminton participants will be shown how to:

• Teach the two basic racket actions of the game to beginners.
• Use simple, small group practices to teach the basic shuttle and player movement needed to play the game successfully.
• Break down the basic shots of Dig, Drop, Drive, High Clear, Smash and Long and Short Serve into simple, easy to practise stages

In Volleyball participants will be shown how to:

• Use simple, small group practices to teach the basic ball and player movement needed to play the game successfully.
• Break down the basic skills of Volley Pass, Digging, Set, Smash and Serve into simple, easy to practise stages so that beginners can acquire the correct techniques quickly.

In Basketball participants will be shown how to:

• Use a simple 3 v 2 drill to teach the basic court movements needed to play the game successfully.
• Break down the basic skills of Dribbling, Passing and Shooting into simple, easy to practise stages so that beginners can acquire the correct techniques quickly.
• Use 'dummy, passive, active, and aggressive defenders' at the appropriate time when teaching skills.

The practical implementation of education’s most successful practice

Assessment for Learning involves using assessment in the classroom to raise pupils’ achievement. It is based on the idea that pupils will improve most if they understand the aim of their learning, where they are in relation to this aim and how they can achieve the aim.
