Effective Leadership

GROWTH MINDSETS FOR PASTORAL WELLBEING

-
About this course

New Matt Messias - Growth Mindset flyer

Growth mindsets is too often linked solely to academic performance – children are encouraged to think about academic progress in terms of ‘not yet’ rather than ‘can’t do’. However, Dweck’s original work has implications far beyond the classroom. Pastorally, a culture of growth can help children to become more reflexive, more emotionally resilient, more socially aware and better prepared for the turbulence of adolescent life. Superior concentration, lowered stress, less anxiety and greater confidence are just some of the benefits of a growth mindsets approach – in short, improved wellbeing. This course will consider growth mindset tools, strategies and approaches to help you support and promote the wellbeing of individual students or, as a pastoral leader, groups of students.
