HYBRID LEARNING AND GIRLS – LESSONS FROM LOCKDOWN FOR THE NEW WORLD

Online Course
About this course

All our workshops are constantly updated to reflect the current - and ever-changing - circumstances in all schools relating to Covid-19.

Do you want to ensure the girls you teach reintegrate most effectively into the classroom and to support their learning in the most effective way possible?  Do you have some students in your classrooms while others continue to learn remotely, perhaps as they are boarders?  How can you effectively cater for all your girls under these circumstances?

In these unprecedented times, most independent schools are having to consider the challenges of catering for pupils in the classroom and pupils at home, and simultaneously.  Hybrid learning poses great opportunities but also huge challenges.

The challenges include:

  • How will we assess the home learning experience for each girl in order to plan future provision when we have some in school and some at home?

  • What can we do to provide for all students given their different ‘playing fields’?

  • How can we make our curriculum effective for students at home and in the classroom, simultaneously, so all make rapid and sustained learning gains?

Girls have particular learning needs which can be effectively supported to overcome the negative impacts and capitalise on the positive impacts of sustained home learning, and this course will show you how to do this.

All our 3-hour online workshops include:

  • practical classroom-ready ideas and resources

  • small group size to facilitate interaction and full engagement

  • group/pair work and discussion with the tutor

  • pdf of the course booklet

Course Outcomes:
  • Discover the specific impacts of home-learning upon girls’ learning and progress
  • Develop effective classroom practices to optimise girls’ learning whether at home or in your classroom
  • Acquire a variety of practical activities to share with students, parents and colleagues to successfully re-engage all girls with learning, whether at home or in the classroom
  • Develop an understanding of different approaches to hybrid learning to optimise effective learning for your students
