Inspirational Teaching Strategies

SUPPORTING STUDENT WELLBEING DURING TURBULENT TIMES

Helping you to support children and young people to understand and cope with change and uncertainty through the use of everyday strategies
About this course

Uncertainty (e.g. the Covid-19 pandemic) can lead to children and young people experiencing a need to manage a range of emotions, through having their normal way of learning and social relationships disrupted.

Some of the biggest challenges that the education sector now faces are:

a) to support students who are experiencing mental health issues (some for the very first time).

b) to ensure that schools once again become a place that builds healthy connections and a sense of belonging.

This course will provide attendees with an understanding of the mental health of children and young people, and provide the confidence and strategies to support and guide them through times of change.

All our 3-hour online workshops include:

  • Practical ideas and resources

  • Small group size to facilitate interaction and full engagement

  • Group/pair work and discussion

  • PDF copy of the course booklet

Course Outcomes:
  • Understand children’s mental health risk factors and stigma
  • Recognise how anxiety can affect learning
  • Develop the skills of active listening and communication
  • Gain practical strategies to help children and young people understand and manage their emotions
  • Increase understanding of the impact that social media can have on student’s mental health
  • Consider how this could help to develop whole-school approaches to improving resilience and school-connectedness
