1. Commitment

Dragonfly Training Ltd is committed to the highest standards of safeguarding. While we do not work directly with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, our training for headteachers, teachers, and teaching assistants carries a duty to promote safe practice, model professional standards, and ensure all concerns are handled appropriately in line with COBIS expectations and statutory guidance.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all Dragonfly Training staff, trainers, and contractors delivering training in person or online. It extends to all interactions with client schools, organisations, and participants.

3. Principles
  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
  • We promote a culture of openness, accountability, and vigilance.
  • Concerns are addressed swiftly and appropriately.
  • We work in partnership with schools’ Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).
4. Responsibilities
  • DSL: Oversees safeguarding, maintains records, and liaises with client DSLs.
  • Staff & Trainers: Must complete safeguarding awareness training, follow this policy, and report concerns immediately.
5. Safer Recruitment

We adopt safer recruitment practices to ensure only suitable individuals deliver our training:

  • Verification of identity and right to work.
  • Reference checks and verification of qualifications.
  • Enhanced DBS checks (or international equivalents) where relevant.
  • Assessment of safeguarding knowledge and professional conduct.
6. Reporting Concerns
  • Concerns observed or disclosed during training must be reported to Dragonfly Training’s DSL without delay.
  • The DSL will liaise with the client school’s DSL to ensure appropriate action.
  • Reports are recorded confidentially and managed in line with data protection requirements.
7. Professional Conduct

All staff and trainers are expected to:

  • Maintain respectful, inclusive, and professional environments.
  • Avoid behaviour that could be misinterpreted as unsafe or inappropriate.
  • Uphold COBIS safeguarding standards at all times.
8. Review

This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, COBIS guidance, or safeguarding incidents require.
